The Baccalaureat en enseignement au prescolaire et au primaire is a full-time, 120-credit bachelor's degree at Universite de Sherbrooke preparing students to teach at the preschool and elementary levels in Quebec. Delivered mostly in person at the Sherbrooke campus with admission each fall, the programme develops competencies across five professional areas: planning and leading classroom learning situations, organizing and managing classroom life, contributing to broader school initiatives, participating in coordinated support decisions for students with learning or psychosocial difficulties, and engaging in ongoing professional development. Coursework combines foundational studies in pedagogy, didactics and educational technology with supervised teaching practica in preschool and elementary classrooms. On completion, the university recommends eligible graduates to Quebec's Ministry of Education for the teaching licence (brevet d'enseignement) required to teach in the province. The programme is open to international students in the regular admission stream and leads to a Bachelière ou bachelier en education.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: General admission requirements for the university's first-cycle (undergraduate) programmes apply. All admitted students must demonstrate a very good command of French, sufficient to understand, speak and write clearly and correctly; this is proven either by an exemption or by achieving level C1 (a score of at least 500 out of 699 across the four core language skills - listening, reading, speaking and writing) on a test recognized by Universite de Sherbrooke. Students found to have French-language weaknesses during the programme may be required to complete remedial language activities through the university's language centre.
