BA/BS in Actuarial Science is a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science programme taught at Université du Québec à Montréal in Montréal, Canada. The programme runs for 3 years. It carries 90.0 credits. Tuition for international students is CAD 28,605 per year (CAD 3,118 per year for local students).
This 90-credit undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in actuarial science, offered in French at the Montreal campus on a full-time or part-time basis, with regular and honours profiles. The curriculum covers actuarial mathematics, probability, statistics, financial mathematics, insurance, and risk modelling, examining how random events such as death, disability, and accidents affect financial outcomes. Coursework spans life insurance, general insurance, pension plans, and finance and investment mathematics, structured as 23 mandatory courses (69 credits) in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, finance, and accounting. The regular profile adds six optional courses (18 credits); the honours profile allows up to five optional courses (12 to 15 credits) with a research emphasis. Students may complete one paid, credited internship of about 15 weeks in their final year, and all students take one course in business or scientific communication. The program suits students with an aptitude for mathematics who are aiming for careers in actuarial science, quantitative risk modelling, or actuarial finance, with the honours profile oriented toward those considering graduate study.
