The Bachelor of Arts in History offers a comprehensive study of human societies from antiquity to the contemporary era, across major world regions including the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The 90-credit curriculum combines a structured core of courses with elective coursework, developing historical research skills, source criticism, and critical analysis that transfer to careers beyond academic history. The program was recently and substantially revised, updating more than 50 courses and broadening professional outcomes for graduates. Students may complete the program full-time or part-time, and are encouraged to use elective courses to build proficiency in English, another modern language, or an ancient language. Admission requires demonstrated French-language proficiency, verified through the provincial Uniform French Examination, the Quebec ministry's written test, or UQAM's own assessment. The program is offered on UQAM's Montreal campus, with intakes each autumn and winter, and some course sections available online.
