This 30-credit certificate provides training in atmospheric science, offered at the Montreal campus on a full-time or part-time basis with fall and winter admission. Ten mandatory courses combine four specialized atmospheric-science courses, including physics of the atmosphere, the Earth's atmosphere, cloud physics, and a laboratory course, with three related-discipline courses in environmental chemistry, oceanography, and hydrology that situate atmospheric processes within the wider Earth system, plus three tool-development courses in statistics, computing, and geographic information systems that build the quantitative and technical skills used in atmospheric research and modelling. The fully mandatory course structure gives every student the same grounding in atmospheric physics, chemistry, and analytical tools. The program suits candidates seeking a rigorous scientific foundation in atmospheric processes, whether as preparation for further study in meteorology or environmental science, or as technical training for roles in environmental monitoring and data analysis.
