This 90-credit Bachelor of Arts trains versatile designers for the broad field of visual culture, organized around four axes: critical culture, visual communication, interaction and mediation, and illustration with moving images. The curriculum combines studio practice with critical and theoretical coursework, building skills that range from print and brand identity design to interactive and screen-based interfaces and moving-image illustration. UQAM is described as the only francophone university in Montreal to offer this program. Graduates pursue careers as art directors, graphic designers, interaction or UI designers, illustrators, motion designers, and visual-experience designers across advertising, media, technology, and cultural-sector employers. The program is offered full-time and part-time on the Montreal campus, with admission in the fall term only, and selection weighs a portfolio, a test, and academic standing in different proportions depending on the applicant's prior DEC program.
