Overview
This 90-credit PhD (Philosophiae Doctor), troisieme cycle, at UQAT offers advanced, interdisciplinary research training in education across fields such as education administration, learning and motivation, subject-specific didactics, Indigenous education, environmental education, inclusive education, teacher training, intercultural education and educational technology. The programme combines 18 credits of required activities (orientation and synthesis seminars, a research-context seminar, a directed reading, and a first research internship), 9 credits chosen from thematic seminars, a second directed reading or research internship, and 63 credits of research (a 9-credit doctoral project and a 54-credit thesis). Admission requires a master's degree in education, or in a related field with at least two years' relevant experience, obtained with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on a 4.3 scale, or, exceptionally, a bachelor's degree with a strong record of scientific achievement; candidates need two recommendation letters, a research-project outline and sufficient French proficiency plus reading comprehension of English, and may face an interview. Enrolment is capped, and admission is open for the Fall session only.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires a master's degree in education or equivalent, obtained with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on a 4.3 scale; or a master's in a related field obtained with the same minimum average plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience; or, exceptionally and with committee approval, a bachelor's degree evidencing a strong record of scientific achievement including peer-reviewed publications. Applicants need two recommendation letters, an outline of the proposed thesis project, sufficient knowledge of written and spoken French, and sufficient knowledge of English to read texts in the field; an interview and written test may be required. Enrolment is contingent (capped), and admission is open for the Fall session only.
