Overview

This professional master's program in digital creation at Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue is designed to be completed in one year of full-time study on campus. It builds conceptual, managerial, and technological competencies across the digital content production pipeline, with coursework organized around research-creation projects spanning cinematographic and audiovisual work, interactive and immersive devices, artistic installations, video games, visual effects, applications, and experience design. Students carry out a capstone creative project set in a work environment resembling professional studio conditions, supported by access to specialized facilities including a motion-capture studio, and by ties to cultural events and festivals that connect coursework to the wider creative industry. The program is aimed at graduates who already hold relevant undergraduate training and are seeking to move into leadership or specialized roles in digital media production, such as producer, creative director, game designer, technical director, or digital strategist. It suits those looking to deepen practical and strategic skills in content creation for entertainment, audiovisual production, and gaming, as well as emerging applications of digital media in communications, education, health, and design.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 3.20 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: Standard entry requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field touching digital creation (multimedia, digital creation, 3D creation, video-game creation, 3D animation and image synthesis, film and television studies, media studies, video-game studies, graphic design, or visual and media arts) or a related field, with a cumulative average of at least 3.2/4.3 or equivalent; candidates must also pass a selection interview and present a portfolio or a video demo of their best work at that interview. Applicants without a bachelor's degree may instead apply on an experience base: relevant knowledge, appropriate training and experience judged pertinent, assessed at interview and evidenced by an employer letter and academic transcripts, with a required 300-word motivation letter and possible admission by exceptional file review at the programme committee's discretion. Cohort size is capped at 25, with surplus applicants wait-listed.

No separate international deadline, and no programme-specific deadline for engineering or digital-creation programmes, is published on the general admission, international-student, or engineering-school pages; UQAT directs both domestic and international applicants to contact the registrar or the relevant program office for exact timing. The university does not describe its admission as rolling in these terms, but no fixed closing date for the 2026-2027 cycle appears anywhere checked.
