Overview

This graduate diploma trains health professionals to specialize in global health, with practice in Indigenous health, travel health, and work in African, Asian, Middle Eastern and South American settings, including humanitarian-cooperation contexts. The 30-credit program is unique in Quebec and delivered in French, entirely at a distance. Coursework covers international health, health in the African region, north-south health issues, travel health and individualized traveller risk management, and health in the eastern region, followed by a minimum four-week clinical immersion placement of at least nine credits and a closing course on cultural and ethical aspects of global health. The placement offers genuine fieldwork experience that can facilitate future integration into global-health expert teams; some domestic placement options require a nursing licence.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires prior completion of UQAT's graduate microprogram in clinical approaches to global health (0568). Candidates pursuing a domestic clinical placement additionally require a valid nursing licence. A practicum fee applies for the clinical immersion placement.
