PGDip in Infrastructure Protection and International Security

This program leads to a Graduate Diploma in Infrastructure Protection and International Security, delivered on campus at Carleton University in Ottawa, combining resources from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. Two diplomas are offered: one for professionals and one for students in current Carleton graduate programs. Both apply core principles of critical infrastructure engineering and multi-hazard threat risk assessment alongside the policy framework and options available to security practitioners. Coursework addresses critical infrastructure and asset protection, security risk management, national security policy, intelligence and terrorism, blast-resistant structural design, threat and vulnerability assessment, and security technology. Ottawa's role as the coordination centre for Canada's ten National Critical Infrastructures gives students access to officials from government departments, private industry, and non-governmental organizations, supported by Carleton's professional ties with agencies responsible for protecting those infrastructures. Entry is offered in the Fall term.
