Program details

Overview

This Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science provides broad training in programming, software engineering, databases, networks, operating systems, algorithms, web development, and foundational artificial intelligence, completed over three years across six terms. The 90-credit program is offered at both the Gatineau and Saint-Jerome campuses, full-time or part-time, with admission in fall, winter, and summer terms. Students select one of four concentration tracks - cybersecurity, data science and artificial intelligence, embedded systems and control computing, or a general computer science stream - through 24 credits of electives that include 15 credits of specialized courses, 6 credits of enrichment courses, and 3 credits in English. The curriculum follows a structured progression from core programming, mathematics, and systems courses toward advanced topics, culminating in a capstone synthesis project in the final term. Its dual-campus delivery makes the degree accessible to students in both the Gatineau and Laurentides regions without requiring relocation. The program suits students seeking a broad computer science foundation with the option to specialize partway through their studies, whether they are aiming for software development, data science, embedded systems, or security-focused careers, or for further graduate study in computing fields.

Requirements

Minimum GPA: 2.20 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: Admission runs through three pathways. From a Quebec DEC or equivalent, applicants must complete the college mathematics sequence — differential calculus, linear algebra and vector geometry, and integral calculus — with remedial courses MAT0123 or MAT0143 available for candidates missing this preparation, admission then conditional on passing them. The university-studies pathway requires at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of 2.2/4.3, plus the same mathematics competencies. A work-experience pathway is open to applicants with at least 24 months of relevant technical work in computing. All candidates must demonstrate sufficient French, satisfied by the DEC's provincial French exam, UQO's own French test for university admission, or an equivalent test set by a francophone university; compensatory measures are available after an unsuccessful first attempt. Applications are submitted through UQO's online admission portal.

Application Details

Start Date: September, January and May
Application Deadline: UQO currently publishes deadlines only for the term now open, which as of mid-September 2026 is winter 2027 entry. Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) apply directly to UQO: regular undergraduate and certificate programmes close 1 December 2026, while co-operative-education bachelor's programmes and all graduate programmes close 15 October 2026, with admission decisions issued from August onward. International applicants had an earlier cut-off of 1 August 2026 for winter 2027 entry; as of the fetch date that window has already closed for most programmes, and several programmes are not open to international applicants for this term at all. UQO has not yet published fall 2027 dates, and none of these deadlines are rolling; all are firm cut-offs. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
