This certificate in business computing develops the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to use information-technology tools effectively within a management role, and introduces issues in managing IT resources within organizations. The 30-credit program is offered full-time or part-time at the Gatineau campus, with admission in fall, winter, and summer terms. Coursework combines computing fundamentals with a management orientation, preparing graduates to support IT-related decision-making, systems selection, and day-to-day IT operations inside business settings rather than treating computing and management as separate tracks. Applicants without college-level mathematics complete a preparatory mathematics course as part of their program before continuing into the core curriculum. The certificate can serve as a standalone credential for those already working in a management role, or as a foundation for further study in management information systems or related business programs.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission runs through three pathways. From a Quebec DEC or equivalent, applicants without college-level mathematics must complete the preparatory course MAT1023. The university-studies pathway requires at least 15 completed university credits with a cumulative average of 2.0/4.3, plus the same mathematics requirement. A work-experience pathway accepts applicants with twelve months of IT-related management experience and demonstrated technical knowledge, assessed if needed through an interview, with the same mathematics requirement.
