The Bachelor in Ecology and Environment (baccalaureat en ecologie et environnement) at Universite du Quebec en Outaouais is a 90-credit undergraduate program delivered over three years at the Gatineau campus, with admission each Fall and Winter trimester. The program gives students a broad grounding in ecology and environmental science so they can understand the ecological, social and economic dimensions of current environmental issues. Alongside this generalist foundation, students may build specialized competencies aligned with labour-market needs in fields such as biology, biotechnology, environmental science, biomedical science, biochemistry and agri-food science, and develop the analytical, research-methodology and data-handling skills needed to pursue graduate studies. The curriculum combines coursework with the possibility of deepening expertise in specific natural-science sectors. Students admitted on the basis of a related college diploma who have not completed a biology course may be admitted conditionally, with final admission confirmed once that course is passed within the prescribed timeframe.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Base college (DEC): a Quebec DEC, pre-university or technical, or equivalent in natural sciences, applied sciences, or human sciences with a mathematics/quantitative-methods profile, having passed (or passing in the first year of the program) a biology course; conditional admission applies until that course is completed. Related technical DECs with analysis, research-methodology or data-processing components (biological, biotechnological, environmental, biomedical, biochemical or agri-food technologies) are included. Applications outside these profiles are reviewed by the module director, who may require upgrading courses. All applicants must demonstrate sufficient mastery of French, attested by the UQO French test, the Quebec ministerial French exam, a degree from a francophone university, or a bachelor's degree completed entirely in French at a bilingual university.
