The Bachelor in Preschool and Elementary Education, Integrated DEC-BAC Pathway (baccalaureat en education prescolaire et en enseignement primaire, cheminement DEC-BAC integre) at Universite du Quebec en Outaouais is a 120-credit teacher-education program delivered over eight trimesters across four years at the Gatineau campus, with admission each Fall. It is reserved for students of the DEC in Techniques d'education a l'enfance (322.A1) at Cegep de l'Outaouais, letting them complete both the college diploma and the bachelor's degree in six years instead of seven by beginning university courses in their fifth Cegep session. Like the standard program, it trains education professionals able to deliver preschool educational services and teach the full range of elementary-school subjects under Quebec's pedagogical framework, developing the disciplinary, psychopedagogical and complementary competencies needed across preschool and the three cycles of elementary school. Students admitted conditionally after their third DEC session receive prior-learning recognition toward the bachelor's degree once their DEC is confirmed.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Reserved for students in the DEC in Techniques d'education a l'enfance (322.A1) at Cegep de l'Outaouais. Final admission requires holding the DEC (322.A1) with a final cote R of at least 23 and having passed the uniform French exam required for the DEC. Students apply to the integrated pathway at the end of their second college year, are admitted conditionally based on academic standing within the program's enrolment cap, and begin university coursework in their fifth Cegep session; final admission and credit recognition toward the bachelor's degree follow confirmation of the DEC after the third college year.
