BA/BS in Teaching English as a Second Language

This bachelor's program trains teachers of English as a second language for Quebec's primary, secondary, and adult education sectors. Students deepen their knowledge of the English language and English-speaking cultures while acquiring the pedagogical competencies needed to plan, deliver, and assess English-language instruction. The 120-credit curriculum combines linguistics, literature, and language-teaching methodology with foundational education courses covering classroom management and assessment. Most courses are taught in English, with some offered at a distance or in hybrid format. The program includes supervised teaching practicums across the levels of the Quebec school system. Applicants may receive recognition for up to 60 credits of prior learning. Admission is offered in the fall term only. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Education (B. Ens.) qualifying them to teach English as a second language in Quebec schools.
