This PhD trains researchers in ethnology and heritage studies, with a focus on contemporary cultural evolution and diversity. Students study oral traditions, material culture, rituals, and tangible and intangible heritage, applying fieldwork methodology and interdisciplinary approaches drawn from the humanities and social sciences. The curriculum also covers sustainable development and the application of digital technologies to ethnological research and heritage preservation. The programme has an estimated full-time duration of four years and requires applicants to secure a research supervisor before admission. Candidates typically hold a master's degree in ethnology, though those with master's degrees in related humanities or social sciences disciplines may be admitted based on their academic background and stated research interests. The doctoral thesis is the primary requirement, developed under faculty supervision and evaluated through a public defence. Graduates pursue careers in academic research, cultural institutions, and heritage management.
