InTeRN (Information Technology Readiness North) is a ten-month, entry-level certificate at University College of the North that teaches outcome-based information technology skills through computer refurbishment and preparation for industry-recognized certification exams. The curriculum covers computer components and hardware, software and operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, professional development, and applied work experience, and does not require any prior IT background. Certification exam vouchers are included in tuition. The program runs from September to June at the The Pas campus and is delivered in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance, which is required for success, with online coursework. Graduates leave with the technical foundation and industry certifications needed for entry-level roles in computer refurbishment, hardware support, and general information technology, particularly in northern and Indigenous communities.
