BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is a Bachelor of Engineering major covering the design and development of machines, processes, and systems, built around a framework of sustainability. Coursework includes practical, design-based learning through courses such as Kinematics and Dynamics, Machine Design, Electric Circuits, and Electromechanical Devices. The regular stream runs eight academic semesters (four years). A co-op option extends the program to five years with five work terms designed to ease the transition from academic study to a professional career; students who withdraw from the co-op stream typically require at least one additional summer academic semester to complete the non-co-op requirements. Graduates work across industries ranging from marine engineering to medical instrumentation, in roles such as automotive engineer, mechanical design engineer, HVAC engineer, thermal systems engineer, robotics engineer, manufacturing engineer, materials engineer, and aerospace engineer.
