Overview
The Doctor of Veterinary Science (DVSc) in Population Medicine is a post-professional doctoral program at the Ontario Veterinary College combining clinical-diagnostic skill training with advanced research in veterinary science. The program covers ruminant and swine health management, theriogenology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, biostatistics, and specialty veterinary sciences, preparing graduates for specialist clinical, research, and academic roles in veterinary medicine. Students undertake supervised clinical work alongside an original research project and dissertation within the Department of Population Medicine. It is delivered on-campus at the Ontario Veterinary College. Admission requires a DVM (or equivalent) degree that would make the applicant eligible for a licence to practise veterinary medicine in Ontario, with a minimum admission average of 73-76%. Full-time completion normally takes 36 to 48 months depending on the applicant's prior specialty training and incoming coursework, with a part-time option of 72 to 96 months. Positions are advertised through veterinary specialty and academic channels rather than a single annual intake.
