The Master of Biotechnology combines scientific and business training in biotechnology, drawing on faculty from the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Department of Management. Areas of focus include agri-food biotechnology, biotechnology business management, and biotechnology and human health. The course-based program requires three courses per semester across two semesters (3.0 credits), followed by an internship project (1.0 credit) in the third semester, for a full-time length of about 12 to 16 months. Delivery is on-campus, with a single September intake each year. Admission requires an honours bachelor's degree in a science discipline and a strong science background. Graduates gain both technical and entrepreneurial skills for roles spanning laboratory research and biotechnology business management.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold an honours bachelor's degree in a science discipline such as agriculture, biochemistry, biology, biophysics, biotechnology, chemistry, environmental science, food science, food production systems, microbiology or molecular biology and genetics, with a minimum average of 75% (B) over the last two years of study, plus a second-year molecular and cellular biology course or equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit TOEFL (minimum 93, 22 in each of four sections), IELTS (minimum 7.0, 6.5 in each component) or Duolingo (minimum 130 overall, 120 in each of four categories) scores; exemptions apply for degrees completed in English in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States or the United Kingdom.
