University of Manitoba offers MA/MS in Laws, a master's degree in Law programme in Winnipeg, Canada. The programme runs for 1 year, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 7,186 per semester (CAD 3,266 per semester for local students).
The Master of Laws (LLM) is a graduate law degree offered through the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the Fort Garry campus, with an expected completion time of one year. Applicants can choose between two structures: a thesis-based route built around independent research culminating in a major research paper, or a course-based route that combines structured coursework with a capstone seminar and 18 credit hours of electives. Both routes require a graduate seminar in legal research and theory along with research integrity and academic integrity tutorials. Students may organize their studies around subject areas such as human rights, business law, Indigenous studies, law and society, criminal law, or public policy, and can draw on clinical and practical courses for experiential learning. The program is intended for candidates who already hold a JD, LLB, or a relevant non-law degree and are looking for either a research-intensive or a coursework-based path into advanced legal study, with access to mentorship from practising lawyers and judges as part of the wider law faculty community.
