Master of Science in Chemistry

This Master of Science is a thesis-based graduate degree in UNB's Department of Chemistry, centred on an original research project supervised by a faculty member and culminating in a written thesis. Full-time students typically complete the degree in about two years, with entry available in fall, winter, or summer terms. The department, based in F.J. Toole Hall on the Fredericton campus, supervises research across physical, organic, inorganic, theoretical and quantum, bioanalytical, and materials chemistry, and maintains a graduate cohort of roughly twenty to thirty students. Outstanding students may be considered for transfer into the PhD program without first completing the master's degree. Graduates of the program have gone on to work in pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, materials science, chemical analysis, education, and academic research. The program suits chemistry graduates seeking focused research training and technical support in a specific subfield before moving into industry, further graduate study, or teaching.
