The Honours BSc in Environmental Science is a 120-unit program at the University of Ottawa that draws on biology, earth sciences, chemistry and physics to study natural environments and the effects of human activity on them. Students choose among three specialization areas: conservation and biodiversity, global change, or environmental geochemistry and ecotoxicology. Coursework is compulsory through the 1000 to 4000 levels, a combined 60 units, with a further 60 units of optional and elective courses. The final year requires either an independent research project or an equivalent set of advanced courses in the discipline. The degree is offered in English and French, with a French immersion stream and a co-operative education option, in which students alternate academic terms with paid work placements, both available.
