The Honours BSc Physics - Biological Physics Option is a 120-unit undergraduate degree offered by the Department of Physics at the University of Ottawa. The option applies physics training to problems in the life sciences, combining core physics courses such as Fundamentals of Physics, Electromagnetic Theory, Thermodynamics and Introductory Quantum Mechanics with biology and chemistry courses including Introduction to Cell and Molecular Biology, Principles of Chemistry and Cell Biology. Program-specific courses cover physics in biology and introduction to molecular biophysics, culminating in a fourth-year course in biological physics. Students complete two physics laboratory courses and choose between a physics research project or a combined physics laboratory and project option. Elective units allow further study in mathematics or biology, or coursework from other faculties. The program is offered in English and in French, includes a French immersion stream, and co-operative education is available.
