Overview
Physical Sciences is an Honours Bachelor of Science Major program at the University of Toronto Scarborough, intended for students who want a general background in the physical sciences, with an emphasis on astronomy, physics, and physical chemistry, but who do not intend to pursue graduate study. The Major requires 8.0 credits: first-year foundational courses in physics, chemistry, and mathematics; 2.5 credits in the second or third year selected from intermediate physics, mathematics, astronomy, and chemistry courses; and 2.0 credits of third- or fourth-year advanced courses, including Electromagnetic Theory and Quantum Mechanics I, with a research-project option. Parallel Major programs with a similar structure are offered in Mathematical Sciences, Chemistry, and Biochemistry for students with different interests. Admission from Ontario secondary school requires an OSSD with six Grade 12 4U/M courses, including English, Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, and Physics; Chemistry is recommended.

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six Grade 12 U/M-level courses, including English (ENG4U/EAE4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U), and Physics (SPH4U); Chemistry (SCH4U) is recommended. The co-op component of Grade 12 courses is not used for admission purposes.
