Comparative Physiology is offered as a Specialist (HBSc) at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Physiology is described as the study of living matter and its interaction between internal and external environments, integrating physical and life sciences to understand body function and the origins of disease in plants and animals. Coursework includes introductory animal physiology, covering diversity of structure and function in animals at the tissue and organ-system level, along with regulatory systems physiology and climate change biology. The program prepares students for further study or careers such as doctor, paramedic, wildlife biologist, research associate, and biostatistician, combining laboratory-based physiology training with a comparative, cross-species perspective on body systems. The Specialist sits alongside related Major and Specialist options in biology, biotechnology, and health sciences within U of T Mississauga's science admission stream.
