English and Creative Writing is a four-year Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Windsor, unique among Ontario English programs for its dedicated creative-writing focus. Students study literature across multiple traditions and historical periods, examining craft technique while developing their own creative writing in small classes capped at 20 students, allowing close, individualized feedback from instructors. The program includes a practicum in editing and publishing, in which students edit and publish an original manuscript, alongside standard literature courses covering poetry, fiction and drama. Workshops cover both prose and poetry writing, giving students a grounding in literary analysis as well as their own creative practice. Graduates are prepared for careers and further study in writing, publishing, editing, communications and related creative and literary fields, drawing on both critical and creative writing skills developed throughout the degree.
