Overview
The Culinary Management diploma provides you in advanced culinary and pastry techniques, as well as important management, accounting and beverage skills. Learn what it takes to launch a culinary career, with work opportunities close to home and around the world.
At the end of the program, you can write the inter-provincial Red Seal exam. You also receive advanced credit when applying to the VIU Bachelor of Hospitality Management degree.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires English 12 with a minimum "C+" grade or equivalent, and a minimum "C+" grade in Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus 10, or Workplace Mathematics 10, or an equivalent; applicants must also submit a copy of a FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate. Beyond these, VIU's General Trades Admission Requirements apply, which admit BC secondary graduates or accepted equivalents, transfer students, and applicants entering through the trades mature-student category. Field placements may require a criminal record check before students can be placed. No IELTS, TOEFL or other language-test score is published for this diploma; the language bar is the English 12 grade above. High-school food-preparation coursework and prior industry experience are recommended but not mandatory. Students who already hold a completed Culinary Arts Certificate from VIU or another institution may enter directly into Year 2, subject to the same English and Math prerequisites listed here.
