Overview

Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities (SASAH) is an interdisciplinary module offered by the School for Advanced Studies in the Arts and Humanities at Western University. It cannot be taken as a stand-alone credential and must be completed alongside another Major or Honours Specialization within an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree. The module totals 6.0 courses, built around a two-course core sequence, SASAH 2200E and SASAH 3380Y, together with electives chosen from designated 2000-, 3000- and 4000-level SASAH seminars. One non-SASAH course may substitute for a required course with the Director's approval, and completion of one language course at the 1000 level or above in a language other than English is required for graduation. The programme emphasizes seminar-based, research-intensive study across the arts and humanities, building on skills developed in a student's primary major. Admission requires acceptance into SASAH, completion of first-year requirements with no failures, and stated minimum grades in principal and core courses.
