Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is an Honours Specialization in Western University's Faculty of Science, requiring 10.0 courses beyond first year. Required courses cover applied mathematics (Applied Mathematics 2402A/B, 2814A/B, 3811A/B, 3815A/B), core mathematics (Mathematics 2155F/G, 2156A/B, 3020A/B) and statistics (Statistical Sciences 2857A/B, 2858A/B, 3657A/B), giving students a foundation in both the theoretical and applied sides of the discipline. Electives allow further study in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or financial modelling at the 2100 level and above, letting students tailor the specialization toward pure mathematics, applied analysis, or statistical and actuarial methods. Admission from first year requires prerequisite calculus courses and a minimum average across three principal courses, with at least 85% required in the higher calculus prerequisite for some entry routes. Graduates earn an Honours Bachelor of Science with this specialization.
