Overview

Honours Specialization in Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University is an undergraduate module offered by the School of Health Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The module requires 9.0 courses: 3.5 second-year courses, a further 0.5 third-year course, a core Rehabilitation Sciences course requiring a minimum mark of 70%, and 4.0 elective courses drawn from Health Sciences, Physiology, Rehabilitation Sciences and Communication Sciences and Disorders. A maximum of 12.0 credits from Health Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences and Communication Sciences and Disorders combined may count toward the overall degree. Teaching is based on Western's main campus in London, Ontario. The program's elective range across allied disciplines suits students preparing for careers or graduate study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, audiology or other rehabilitation-focused health professions.

Admission Requirements: Honours Specialization in Rehabilitation Sciences requires prior registration in the School of Health Studies and is entered after first year, with no year-one grade below 60%. Applicants need a minimum of 70% in Health Sciences 1001A/B, 1002A/B, 1111A/B and 1300A/B, and a minimum of 60% in Biology 1001A and 1002B, together with a minimum cumulative average of 70%. Enrolment in the module is limited, and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee a space. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Western's institution-wide proof-of-English-proficiency policy, e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 83 with no section below 20.
