Overview
The Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition (MScFN) at Western University offers a choice of course-based or project-based curriculum options, combining advanced-level coursework with practical training placements across southwestern Ontario and beyond. The course-based option is completed over three terms, while the project-based option takes five terms. Graduates of either option earn the MScFN degree and complete a practicum recognized by Accreditation Canada, preparing them to write the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE). Admission requires an Honours BSc in Foods and Nutrition from a Canadian undergraduate program accredited by Accreditation Canada, completed within the previous three years, along with undergraduate coursework in research methodology and statistics. Applicants need a minimum undergraduate GPA of 75%, though averages between 70% and 74.9% may be considered on a case-by-case basis, and relevant volunteer or work experience is expected.
