Overview
This undergraduate programme in Data Science teaches students to use statistical methods, computational techniques and data analysis to extract meaningful knowledge from data. Students choose one of three streams - Business, Health, or Computational Arts - and complete a fourth-year capstone project involving hands-on research on real-world problems with industry professionals and organizations. Applicants apply to either the Bachelor of Arts (OUAC code YYW) or Bachelor of Science (OUAC code YYY) route, with the BSc route requiring an additional senior science course beyond the BA prerequisites. The programme is offered within the Faculty of Science, is delivered on campus at York University's Keele Campus, and admits students in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms for both first-year and upper-year entry. Admission Requirements: For the Bachelor of Arts stream (OUAC code YYW), Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) applicants need ENG4U, MHF4U (minimum grade 75%), MCV4U plus three additional Grade 12 U or M courses; for the Bachelor of Science stream (OUAC code YYY), applicants need the same English and mathematics courses plus one of SBI4U/SCH4U/SPH4U and two additional Grade 12 U or M courses. Both streams require an admission average in the mid-70s, with a final average of at least 70% required to maintain the offer.
