Overview

Information Technology at York University combines technical expertise with an understanding of how technology, including artificial intelligence, is used and managed in organizations. Students learn to analyze, design, develop and manage complex information systems through courses in programming, database systems, systems analysis, data analytics, cybersecurity and AI. The programme is offered through the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Commerce, full-time or part-time at the Keele campus, with entry in the fall, winter and summer terms for both first-year and upper-year students. Graduates pursue roles such as business analysts, IT consultants and project managers in software and web development, systems design, AI-enabled technologies and cybersecurity. Ontario applicants to the BA need ENG4U and 4U math; BCom applicants need MHF4U in place of general 4U math.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with ENG4U, 4U math (MHF4U for the Bachelor of Commerce route) and four additional 4U or M courses; equivalent secondary academic and English requirements apply for other Canadian provinces, with the specific course codes varying by jurisdiction.
