Overview

Theatre Studies combines hands-on and lecture-based courses in directing, production and design, playwriting and dramaturgy, and theatre and performance studies. The program leads to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and is offered through the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design, with full-time and part-time study options. Entry is available in Fall or Summer at first-year or upper-year level. Students may pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialization from second year through audition or interview. Advanced Placement exam scores of 4 or 5 from US applicants may be eligible for transfer credit. The curriculum combines critical and historical study of theatre with practical production experience, preparing graduates for further study or careers across the performing arts and related fields.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: For most Canadian high school credentials the admission average should be in the mid-70s; a final academic average of 80% is required to maintain admission. Ontario Secondary School Diploma applicants need ENG4U plus five additional 4U or M courses; International Baccalaureate applicants need a minimum of 30 diploma points; US high school applicants need a minimum 3.7 (A-) GPA in grade 11 and 12 academic courses.
