This MA program in Theatre, Dance, & Performance Studies examines theatre, dance, performance, and cultural politics across theatres, studios, galleries, rituals, and media, developing critically engaged responses to public events. Students choose one of three completion routes: a major research paper, a thesis, or a coursework-only option that includes a colloquium and an internship. The department also offers a PhD in the same field, which requires a comprehensive examination and a dissertation. Admission to the MA requires a minimum B+ average, a resumé or CV, a statement of interest, two letters of recommendation, and a writing sample of up to 6,250 words. Applicants whose first language is not English must also meet the university's English proficiency requirement. The program is administered by York University's Department of Theatre within the Faculty of Graduate Studies, with applications accepted for Fall entry.
