The graduate program in Science & Technology Studies (STS) applies methods and theories from the social sciences, humanities, and cultural studies to the study of scientific knowledge, technological change, and innovation policy. Offered at both the MA and PhD levels, the program examines contemporary and historical cases of scientific governance, technological controversies, and political economy, drawing on an interdisciplinary faculty base spanning multiple departments. Applicants require an undergraduate degree with a minimum B+ average, and admission materials include three letters of recommendation, a research statement of up to 500 words, and a writing sample of approximately 3,000 words. Graduates are prepared for research, policy, and analytical careers examining the relationship between science, technology, and society, as well as further doctoral study in science and technology studies or related interdisciplinary fields.
