Program details

Overview

The Graduate Diploma in General Interpreting is suited to graduate students who wish to interpret professionally in court and/or healthcare settings. Delivered through York University's Glendon campus, the program is taught exclusively online through real-time, interactive classes, with language-specific instruction led by experienced international interpreters. Coursework focuses on modern interpreting technologies alongside the practical skills needed for legal and medical interpreting contexts. As with York's other graduate diplomas, it can be combined with an existing graduate program or pursued as a standalone credential for those with a general interest in graduate-level study, and it documents specialized training in interpreting on the transcript rather than certifying students in the field. Applicants may pursue the diploma while enrolled in another relevant graduate program, or on a standalone basis if they have a general interest in graduate-level study.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Open to students enrolled in any relevant graduate program, or to those with a general interest in graduate-level study, consistent with York's graduate diploma admissions generally.
