Overview
The Graduate Diploma in World Literature gives formal, official accreditation to a student's transnational, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary literary expertise. York University describes the diploma as unique in Canada. It can be completed concurrently with an existing York graduate degree, integrated into a student's MA or PhD program of study, or in some cases entered directly as a standalone credential rather than as an add-on to another degree. The diploma is intended to prepare graduates for careers that call for a high level of cross-cultural literacy in an era of globalization, spanning fields from government and public policy to the global creative industries. As with York's other graduate diplomas, the credential formally recognizes concentrated, cross-cultural literary study undertaken by a student alongside their primary graduate program.
