This master's programme builds core competencies in advanced materials, covering how they are developed, assessed for environmental impact, and combined with digital technologies to create innovative products. Core subjects include physical methods for materials analysis, data analytics and visualisation, material sustainability and the circular economy, innovative plastics, the design and manufacturing of composite structures, biosystems and biomaterials, and computer intelligence and decision-making, across two research projects.
Elective options cover ecological design, resource recovery, integrated engineering systems, process digitalisation, functional materials, and nanoscience. Students learn to apply data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence alongside sustainable-production principles when selecting and evaluating advanced materials, and to make engineering choices that conserve natural resources. Graduates are prepared for roles such as product development expert, research and development manager, technology and manufacturing specialist, or production and innovation manager, with access to third-cycle study.
