This programme builds knowledge of modern AI methods grounded in computer science, systems theory and mathematics, developing the skills to independently design informatics models for applications such as computer vision, speech recognition and text analysis. Core modules include distributed systems and algorithms, computational intelligence and decision-making, image processing and computer vision, explainable and generative artificial intelligence, optimisation techniques, and IT project management, developed through three linked research projects, with electives in virtual-reality modelling, mobile-device technologies, digital sound processing, component-based software design, cloud-computing services, and 3D object behaviour modelling. Students learn to critically assess distributed systems and AI applications, define technical problems and their societal impact, prepare big data for machine-learning use, run experiments by varying model parameters, and justify decision-making methods through comparative analysis. Teaching combines lectures, laboratory work and seminars with independent study, concluding with a final degree project. Graduates gain grounding for applied and research roles in informatics and related fields.
