Overview
The programme trains design specialists able to plan design activity, prepare and carry out design projects, and respond to business and market trends within a framework of lifelong learning. Coursework runs from the history and basic concepts of design through two- and three-dimensional composition, photography, psychology and design research, into a choice between graphic design and interior and furniture design. Students sketch, model and implement design objects using graphic-expression tools and information technology, supported by five rounds of professional practice and a final thesis. The graphic design specialisation covers publication layout, advertising design, website design and visual communication, while the interior and furniture specialisation covers interior materials, office interior projects and technical project work; students in either path can also work in the Academy of Arts' glass, ceramics, textile, leather and woodworking studios. Graduates are described as suited to work in design firms and industrial enterprises or to establish their own legal entity.
