Contemporary Communication is a bachelor's programme at LCC International University that prepares students for work in public relations, advertising, social media, government communication, media production, business settings and non-governmental outreach. It also provides a base for graduate study.
The curriculum begins with an introduction to communication and media as a field of study, treating interpersonal exchange as the basic building block of human communication. Early courses add video production and techniques for clear written and spoken expression. In the second year students look at how media shapes people in a digital age, study communication theory, and apply skills in public relations, media writing and web design.
Later years let students pursue a theme in communication that interests them and consider what ethical, effective leadership looks like in their own contexts. Coursework covers listening, persuasion, nonverbal cues such as gestures, and models of communication. Teaching is organised in fall, spring and summer terms.
