Overview
This programme trains personal trainers to design and deliver integrated exercise, nutrition, and stress-management programmes intended to help people of all ages manage chronic health conditions and improve quality of life, drawing on international interdisciplinary research. Learning outcomes include critically evaluating health-promotion theories and current trends, applying quantitative and qualitative research methods and statistical analysis to plan and interpret simple studies, and using evidence-based exercise, nutrition, and stress-reduction techniques, including mindfulness and meditation, to support musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, metabolic, and cognitive health across different age groups and the specific conditions named in the programme, such as obesity, depression, and dementia. Students also learn to design mental-capacity and wellbeing programmes for pupils, students, seniors, and employees in sedentary occupations, and to use communication tools and social networks to share professional information. Teaching combines lectures, seminars, case analysis, practical sessions, and individual projects with problem-based learning and literature review tasks, and assessment includes analytical research work, model design, and examination.
