Overview
This master's programme trains physiotherapists to apply scientifically grounded diagnostic methods in clinical practice, prevent sports injuries and disease, and manage projects and private physiotherapy practices at a national and international level. Learning outcomes include applying modern diagnostic techniques and clinical tests according to their reliability, sensitivity, specificity, and prognostic value, monitoring sports injuries to develop and assess preventive measures, and developing new physiotherapy techniques and protocols for diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention.
Students also learn to raise and test research hypotheses relevant to physiotherapy, substantiate the safety and efficacy of physiotherapy techniques used in clinical practice and sport, and publicise findings through scientific publications and the media. The programme is distinctive in Lithuania for focusing specifically on injury prevention, diagnosis, and therapy techniques for athletes rather than general rehabilitation, and it also develops skills in applying health and business legislation and writing a business plan to run a private practice.
