Overview
This programme develops entrepreneurial, independent graduates able to compete in a fast-changing technology market by developing, implementing, maintaining and managing secure information systems across different domains. Study areas include distributed-systems programming, internet technologies, databases, information-systems management and security, frameworks and services, business management combined with geographic information systems, applied mathematics, and informatics law, alongside elective blocks covering multimedia and computer design, data warehousing and analysis, information-systems auditing, and the Internet of Things or artificial intelligence. Students learn to explain algorithm-design principles and software life cycles, analyse an organisation's business processes to produce requirements specifications and system designs, select appropriate life-cycle models and development tools for an information system, and prepare and evaluate data to support reasoned decisions. Teaching uses lectures, seminars, practical and laboratory work, team projects and professional practice, graded from one to ten with scores below five rated unsatisfactory. Graduates can plan, design, install and maintain information systems within the field of their development and upkeep.
