This bachelor's programme qualifies emergency medical aid paramedics to provide first and emergency assistance to people of all ages, evaluating vital-function disorders and the nature of injuries using science-based practice. Course subjects include anatomy, physiology and pathology, microbiology and infection control, pharmacology, medical and communication psychology, Latin, and the methodology of applied scientific research, supported by introductory and final practice placements totalling 39 credits that cover emergency medical care in acute conditions.
Students learn to recognise and evaluate life-threatening conditions across different age groups, select and perform medical-aid techniques according to approved protocols for traumas and acute obstetric, paediatric, and general-medicine emergencies, and assess working environments and equipment against occupational-safety principles. The programme also develops skills in analysing and correcting professional performance and collaborating with healthcare teams and patients' families. Graduates work in first-aid services, hospital admission departments, national defence and internal-affairs medical divisions, and rescue services.
