Overview
This bachelor's programme trains dental assistants to organise the dental workplace and support dentists, dental specialists, or hygienists during intraoral procedures and oral-disease prevention. Course modules include human anatomy, preclinical subjects, pediatric dentistry, dental radiology, orthopedic dentistry and orthodontics, oral care for patients with special needs, and applied research methodology, with 50 credits devoted to placements such as infection control in dentistry, oral care education, and assisting in dentistry.
Students learn to identify oral and dental diseases using diagnostic methods, complete professional documentation, maintain infection control while handling dental equipment and materials, and recognise and respond to life-threatening conditions. The programme also develops skills in collecting and analysing statistics for applied research and communicating with healthcare professionals and patients on oral-health issues. Graduates work as dental assistants in licensed dental clinics and offices alongside dentists or dental specialists.
