This blended-format bachelor's programme qualifies dental hygienists to provide oral-care services independently, assess a patient's oral health status and disease risk, and plan and carry out educational and preventive activities against oral disease. Course modules cover human anatomy, pediatric dentistry and noncariotic dental damage, periodontology and oral mucosa diseases, clinical dentistry, and the organisation of work and management, alongside practical placements in oral-care education, hospitalised-patient care, and dental workplace organisation totalling 39 credits.
Students develop skills to perform and evaluate dental X-rays, build a dental care plan from a patient's oral-tissue changes, recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, and advise patients on disease prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle. Training also covers collecting and analysing statistical data for applied research and following infection-control requirements with dental equipment. Graduates can work in licensed dental clinics and offices, or open their own private oral-hygiene practice.
