This master's programme builds on history and religion to teach knowledge of encounters between cultures nationally and internationally. It consists of four culture-history courses of 15 credits each, a 60-credit master's thesis, and optional courses such as Brennpunkt Midtausten, school and religious diversity, migration, gender and religion, and microhistory. Students learn to lead work on cultural integration and to plan and carry out research projects, alone or with others.
Graduates can work in international work, organisations, research and development, schools, media and information businesses, public and private administration, and the cultural sector. The degree qualifies for admission to doctoral study and a research career. Study periods of one to two semesters at partner institutions abroad may be arranged.
