Diploma in Media, Arts & Design (Experience & Product Design)

This specialisation of the media, arts and design diploma is for students curious about why some apps feel natural while others frustrate, and about how products and experiences are designed. Students learn to build easy-to-use apps, interactive experiences and smart products. The course blends creativity with psychology, covering prototyping, user research and design thinking. Students use design thinking and behavioural psychology to work out what people need, and use creative technology for interactive prototypes, aiming at a career in user experience design within the technology industry. The aim is to make technology more accessible and enjoyable for the people who use it. Modules include storytelling and the principles of design, which covers photography, digital imaging and illustration exercises, visual hierarchy, colour theory and typography. Elective modules can be grouped into one of six minors.
